Sounds like a false hypo to me @Ingressus - your body isn't used to running so low so your brain panics and makes you feel as if you're having a hypo. I wouldn't treat on a number like 5.2 - you could try a snack low in carbs but higher in protein to see if that helps. They feel awful but it's a good sign, honest! 🙂

Hi That sounds like a false hypo to me. These happen when your BGs are above 4.0 as your brain is used to higher levels and thinks they are normal. Or it could be your levels were dropping fast.

I must learn to type faster lol.

Weirdly I actually find false hypos make me feel worse than real ones! Not sure why that is though

As already mentioned it's most likely a false hypo, which in a weird way is a good thing to experience. Depending on what meds you are taking as some can cause hypos, in that when you get your levels down and more in control and get the signs you have had you will know to test and correct your levels and how your body reacts when in a hypo situation.

As you get your levels down the false hypos will disappear as you get used to running at normal levels, at the moment you have been accustomed to running at high levels and approaching normal levels is a shock to the body.

Have you had a real one
More than I can count! I've been T1 for 23 years so hypos are inevitable really. The lowest I've ever been is 1.3. That was a bad day lol.

I know it's a scary prospect but you'll feel so much better once you get past the false hypo stage - honestly. I can sort of relate as before I started actively trying to reduce my levels I was running numbers in the teens almost constantly and suffered through a good two weeks of false hypos. I nearly gave up several times but I'm so so glad I grit my teeth and powered on - I feel so much better in myself, healthier, more alert, less tired all the time - it really made me realise how terrible I'd been feeling before. And you have all of us to talk to when things seem confusing and scary of course! 🙂

A mere sniff of a gorgeo... um horrid BFG should do the trick :D but I’d rather eat a slice or if hypo the whole cake , plate and counter it was standing on lol.

I heartily agree with Sprogladite. MDI is well worth it. I feel back to my pre diabetic self, You will too.

Used to get fake hypo's all the time when I first diagnosed. Then they stopped and I had some real ones about six months later, I have them occasionally now when I overshoot my insulin. Lowest one has been BG 2.8 so far.
Not much difference between the two really, just a reading.
You should try carb counting/MDI, it's well worth it you can have your cake and eat it within reason that is.

I had many a false hypo when my numbers were coming down too. Now I get the real one's I'm kind of used to them 🙄
