Hi Kade and welcome. You must be feeling quite shocked with the diagnosis. It takes some getting used to.
Read around our forum and you'll get lots of help. And ask anything you like. Someone is always happy to support you.

A warm welcome to our forum Kade - sorry to read you've been diagnosed but glad you found us - we are a friendly & supportive bunch of folks here so don't feel afraid in coming forward to ask as many questions you want - believe me you are not the only person to have diabetes - some of us started our diabetes journey where you are at right now - and earlier - so you are not alone with your diabetes - we do understand that being diagnosed (dx) is overwhelming & comes as a shock. Please let us know which type of diabetes you have, take care x

Welcome Kade
The her are lots of people on here who are happy to help in any way. It is all a big shock at the start but just ask away with any questions, and there are loads of people happy to help.

Hey Kade

No you're absolutely not the only teenager! but I felt like you when I was diagnosed aged 22 and thrown straight into the adult hospital clinic etc - all right old codgers in comparison LOL. Though of course, I AM a right old codger myself now! You will actually be seen at the hospital by the paediatric Diabetes team - all youngsters are treated by them until they're handed over - gradually! - to the adult clinic at age 19. Now - why would they even bother running a Paediatric Service separately - if there weren't shedloads of people your age with diabetes? They just wouldn't, would they? LOL

We've actually got some parents on the forum who have T1 children who first joined when the kids were, well - little kids - but some of them are in their teens now too. They might be able to tell you more of what's done for teens and how it's done, so you know what to expect.

Which insulins are you on - and how are you getting on with the jabbing and testing? (Little did I expect, 5 years after taking my Biology O level at school - that I'd need the flipping textbook ever again in my life! How I wished I'd listened more to Mr Willetts, when I had the chance ...... LOL)

Hi Kade and welcome to the gang. What types of insulin and regime are you on?

Hello Kade and welcome to the forum. 🙂 I'm sorry for your diagnosis but you're in the right place for info and support. I'm an ancient myself.

Hi Kade.

I was a teenager when I was diagnosed. It's scary. Such a bad time in your life to get diagnosed.

But we are all here for you. There's such support in this forum, and a wealth of knowledge. Feel free to ask us anything. There's no such thing as a stupid question. 🙂
