Hi my name is Robin I was diagnosed with type 2 border line does anyone know any recipes for cakes also its nice to see I am not alone

Welcome to the forum, Robin1951. You can make lower carbohydrate cakes eg replacing flour with ground almonds, but that makes calorie content relatively higher. Or you could have smaller portions of regular cakes.

Hi Robin. I think there are some cakes/dessert recipies on the recipies section. I seem to remember there is a nice cheesecake one!

Hi am not on any medication done only by diet and losing weight I have been told that I am border line between 5 and 8🙂🙂

Hi robin a warm welcome to this wonderful forum

Welcome Robin to the forum. Can't help with the cakes as I was never a big cake eater before being diagnosed with type 2.

Hi Robin

I have a problem in that I can't identify the fish from your avatar pic, so is it a smallish carp that already has a gut bucket or a massive something else? LOL But anyway my husband is wearing one of his newer t-shirts at the moment with the dictionary definition of the word 'fish' - an animal that grows fastest between being caught by the angler and the time he describes it to his friends .....

Low CALORIE cake does NOT exist. As Copepod says - low carb cake certainly does - but even with ground almonds and sugar substitute, you need more fat whatever else you put in it - so if you need to watch your weight - just make no or less cake and much smaller ones, or ones you can successfully cut into much smaller pieces!

I like cake. I test my blood sugar and find shop bought cake makes my BG spike. Home made cake not so much. Therefore I choose my cake carefully. I also choose my carbs so if I want dessert when eating out I will have a very low carb main course. All carbs turn to sugar so watching carbs mean you can still have a slice of cake. It's all food in carb moderation!!!

Swap your bread for Lidl's bakery high protein rolls, burgen soya/linseed sliced loaf or Tesco high protein sliced loaf as they have 1/2 the carbs. Limit rice, pasta and potatoes. Gorge away on protein like chicken, butter, eggs!

Bit more fat in butter than protein I think you'll find Grogg! LOL :D

Still neither fat nor protein raise anyone's BG like a rocket, unlike carbs.

Shushhhhhhh :D:D:D:D:D:D

I love butter. I do miss a nice big fat scone with lashings of butter :(

Hi Robin1951 & welcome to the forum. I've been reading your posts so I would recommend you have a read of the *food carbs queries & recipes* thread in Diabetes Support Forums. There are many low carb cake recipes there which you can make yourself + cheese cakes + more. Being dx (diagnosed) can often be daunting & overwhelming - we've been where you are now so you are not alone. Take care
WL

Hello and welcome to the forum, Robin1951, nice to see you have your priorities in order. :D I've been told that an eclair won't spike you too much but it's all trial and error.
