Sorry for late reply been working again all day, I did giggle when you said you wanted to eat everything!!.....I hope you get better readings 2.2 is so low, I don't mean to sound thick but what is considered a hypo in terms of blood levels? today was a tad cooler but going to be hot again tmr so take care 🙂

Anything below 4.0 is considered a hypo, although a non-diabetic might drop as low as 3.3. We need to have a margin for error to be on the safe side, since meters aren't entirely accurate! 😱

Well the misses would only do one test as she said the prick hurt her!!!....no not me 😉 she had a muffin for breki then she tested 2 hours after and she was 8.6
I said flippin hell that is high for a non diabetic....am I right that is to high? really confusing

Interesting 🙂

Ummm - the DUK website says that non-Ds would be expected to come in at under 8 at 2 hours after meals (I think). Did she do one before eating?

What sort of muffin was it? Did she wash her hands before testing? Non-diabetics can get 'spikes', although not as big as we would probably get from the same thing. One theory is that because a lot of the things people eat cause these spikes, extra glucose is laid down as fat making them more insulin resistant which may eventually lead to diabetes. This is why it is often said that a diet that is healthy for a person with diabetes (that is, one that will help control blood sugar levels well) is a healthy diet for everyone. 🙂

Then again the meter does not always say the truth.....she tested 3 weeks ago and she was a healthy 5.0
She is very small and slim and eats well as I have to, I no she does not have it no symptoms etc, but like I said maybe weather?

Yes she washed her hands as I do, and she had a warburtons white muffin 🙂

White flour raises blood sugar faster than table sugar, although I am surprised her levels hadn't come back down two hours after eating.

You will have to find a gentler lancer, so she can do a whole day. :D I Just done my before tea test (4 hours after last meal) and I am def a diabetic :D with a reading of 14.1 omg. :( Some how don't think I will be having a hypo later on, but you never know.

Re-test time!

My wife can eat a sizeable portion of chocolate cake and it won't budge her over 5. I don't personally believe that piece of DUK advice.

Any one thinking she may be pre diabetic, or is it just the amount of sugar in a muffin.

Just don't let the experts get hold of your handset. I made that mistake on Wed last week and the dietitian wouldn't listen to me saying that it was the weather causing the probs. she went and changed things and caused me no end of hypos in the next 48 hrs. I'm now working on getting back to where I was. I think diabetes 'experts' should have to do finger pricks as often as we do. They might be slightly more thoughtful about what they inflict on us. She's not coming within a mile of me again!😱

They all need Diabetic Tamagotchis 😱 :D

Cant win with this weather, 14.1 before tea, had a normal tea (2 slices of wholemeal bread and 2 scrambled eggs) 2 1/2 hours later already down to 4.9. :( :(

That's very strange  I think that with insulin, at least you can get things sort of OK most of the time, but pills seem so unpredictable to me.

That's the problem take the pills and then its, pot luck there's no fine tweaking, when BS goes high its sit it out and wait until it comes down. With the lows its have a snack as per treating hypos.

Can't really reduce the tablets as the 14.1 would of probably been in the 20's, its a case of riding the weather out and see what happens when we are back to are usual rain, and wind.

Just glad I test regularly and have enough test strips to keep me on track. It might be a long night if my BS plays its current game of high and sudden lows. I was expecting my BS to be between 10.0 and 12.0 at 2 1/2 hours past meal, the 2 hours after test got delayed a bit.

Ha ha...I agree she is boggin me out now lol :D
