Hi, I have noticed that we have some very long serving diabetics here, most recently Hev and Alzibiff! Hav you heard of the Joslin Medal programme? They make awards to people who have been insulin dependent for 25, 50 and 75 years.

I have had diabetes for nearly 10 years but not been on insulin all that time, so I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer to get my medal

i have had type 1 diabetes for 51 years now,and just applied for my Joslin 🙂medal
If you go to www.palingswickhouse.co.uk and go to left hand side under history and look for kevin Baum you will see the diabetic hostel I lived in as a child
 
Wow, congratulations gollymax! I will be 99 when it is time to collect mine! 🙂
 
The British diabetic asociation used to do the 15 and 25 year medals as well.
Then to cut costs they decided as we were all living to long it was costing them money so stopped them. The 15 year one was stopped around about the time I reached the 15 year mark same with the 25 year medal.
So as I reach the 50 years in 3 years time I suspect the medal will be withdrawn just before then 🙄 Which will be a great shame for those that want to write and ask for a medal.
 
Nine years until I get my 50 year medal:D
 
just 18 years to go for mine, which meens I should get it for my 90th birthday. :D
 
I'm 15 years past the 25 year one, may as well hang on for 50 now .....
 
1 year 359 days for me 25 years one for me FTW.

Yes it was my 23rd Annaversary on 20th January
