Hi!
Been borderline T2 for a year, finally tipped into being classed as "Diabetic" on my 60th birthday, been watching my diet since then struggling to lose weight, Dr suggested Manjaro as I had hypertension and joint/mobility problems.
On my third week of manjaro ,no major side effects so far, can't eat as much as I used to but not noticed any weight loss yet. I have a bit of a journey ahead of me.

I'm sorry you've had to join us, but do know that there's a lot of good folk on this forum, ready to answer any questions you might have and support you on this journey. If you feel comfortable sharing your HbA1c levels, that might help people in giving more personally catered advice as that could tell how much 'work' might need to be done.
You mentioned watching your diet, would you mind sharing what kind of changes you've been making? Your body might still be adapting to 'the new', so the weight loss might not come all at once. Have you been prescribed any other meds?
 
Hi JohnnyD, sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Good to hear you're taking steps to manage things. A lot of the t2 people on the forums here suggest low carb diets and from my own experience that's helped a lot both with managing blood glucose levels and addressing my weight. Good luck with your weight loss, it's never that easy else we'd not need to in the first place and I can imagine more so if mobility issues limit your exercise options. Hopefully if you're just moving from pre-diabetic to diabetic some reasonable changes will make a very positive impact for you.
 
One thing to get checked is your vitamin B12 as that can give some symptoms similar to what you describe.
I hope the medication helps but usually that is prescribed after dietary changes and other oral meds have been tried and not been too successful.
Many do think they have a 'healthy' diet but it might not be so if one is Type 2 diabetic.

Hope you can find a mix of meds and tweaks to your menu that help to balance things out.

Hopefully the reduced appetite and reduction of calories consumed will gradually start to see your weight reduce in a sustainable way. It’s important to listen to your body, and to stop eating when you feel full from what I’ve heard from other members.
 
Hello @johnnyD and welcome to the forum.
I found it very helpful and supportive when I joined last year as a newbie with very little knowledge about living with diabetes.
There has already been a lot of good suggestions about food so I won't add to that.
Have you considered seated exercises? There are a few classes in our area and I know several people with limited mobility who find them helpful. Also swimming is kinder on your joints and the water resistance improves your fitness.
Meanwhile ask any questions, nothing considered silly or trivial.
