We are made of tough stuff😎

Hope the appointments go well Vince, and the A1c comes through with a result you feel reflects your efforts.

Vince I believe the eye tests you've had are diferent from the retinopathy screening. You need the retinopathy as well. I have had 3 different tests in the last year. One that spottod glacoma, optician eye test (read letters, that glasses wearers have) and retinopathy screening (eye drops to widen the puple).
Photographs, dyes inserted into the eyes. etc.
I've not had an eye test that needed dye.

They wanted to check the back of the eye and teh Retina Ralph.
I had the pupils dilated once then on the second visit the eye dye applied for the photography.
Actually I should say I was injected with they dye and my skin turned orange for a couple of hours. Like a carrot.
It stung like hell to be honest.

Good luck Vince. Yes you should have a specific annual retinal screening unless you are seeing a specialist retinal consultant al least once a year. I have complicated glaucoma and see the glaucoma consultant every four months but she doesn't check for retinopathy. I also have two retinal consultants - one at my local hospital and one at Moorfields.

Good luck with your appointments, Vince. Look forward to the results.🙂

Good luck to you also Jill.
My view is quite plain and simple.
I have paid NI since the age of 16 when I started working, I paid 40% income tax from the age of 32 until I semi-retired at 63. I am still paying income tax on pensions and investments etc. that I saved for. All I have had in return are free prescriptions, statins, a bus pass and basic state pension all of which I have paid for. I expect for my investment over the years in the NHS a slightly better service at least than that demonstrated in both your and my cases.
At the same time, parked outside the surgery are the new Jags and VW's.

Hi Vince Happy New Year, stay full of beans no matter what ! , remember let the Medical Staff give you the information FIRST. Before going off on one. Cheers All the Best clive555555
