Yes, it's true. I've eaten a banana. It was still a bit firm. BG was 5.0 before. Will test at 1 & 2 hours.

1 hr later, 6.2. Not bad so far.🙂

2 hrs later, 5.8. Can't imagine it will go up again, so i can now assume l can handle bananas.:D

Enjoy your bananas Mark. Sounds like very good news

I'll try an apple next.🙂

I buy the small ones so that they can be a pre exercise treat with no insulin. Seems to keep me level for most classes.

Great. Hope you put the skin in compost bin?

I've just had a tandoori mixed kebab starter. I carried on with tandoori king prawns with a vindaloo sauce and a tandoori roti. I washed it down with half a pint of skimmed milk. I am now feeling quite full 😛

So that's were my nana went, you've eaten it. :D
It's great they don't rais your BG too much.

Yuk, why on earth did you do that. Never mind sugar tax I'm lobbying for a banana ban, nothing to do with their status as a food, entirely about the smell, the taste, the texture....vile creations, AND portable so they you are sitting on a bus and some whips out one of those niffers..criminal 😱

Glad you enjoyed it though, and hope the apple goes down as well :D

Bananas were always my favourite fruit. I daren't eat one since diagnosis, but looks like l can handle the odd one or two.

I got a bunch of Mexican organic ones once..... Still green.... Big mistake, they tasted like cardboard & never ripened!!!

Have you tried making banana soft serve ice cream? Get a really ripe 'nana, peel, and slice it up, freeze for a couple of hours, then chuck it in a high speed blender (bullet, or ninja) until smooth. Tastes so good. You can also tart it up by adding a tablespoon of cacao, a dash of vanilla, nut butters, or some fresh fruits before blitzing it (peanut butter and cacao are my fave combinations to add).

I have a freezer full of ripe bananas, every time they go a little too black, I just chop 'em up and chuck 'em in the freezer, ready for an 'ice cream' craving (and saving on waste)

Oooh, that sounds absolutely delicious!

It's great you can tolerate banana mark. I've only had one since diagnosed and it sent into the teens. Not tried one since. Although I like them I don't like them that much!

This was the first one l tried. I don't think l could've tolerated it a few months ago, but I'm sure my insulin resistance has improved.
