I'm off to get my blood taken this morning for my review at the end of the month. Last time my HbA1c was 5.5% (37 mmol/mol) - any guesses for what it might be this time around? 🙂

Somewhere between 5.5% and 7% 🙄

I'll give it a 5.9%

John.

I'll have a pop at 5.3% (...or should I say 34)

Good luck Northerner & i'll say 5.6% (38)

Thanks for your suggestions - hoping to stay in the 5% club! 🙂

Just had the blood taken and the nurse asked me how my diabetes was. I told her that it was fine and that it was 4 years since I was diagnosed Type 1 at the age of 49. Her response? 'Ooh, you don't look like the type that would be overweight'....

Lord preserve us! 🙄

I'll go with 5.2 :D

What hope is there for us if they say things like that! I'm so paranoid that they're going to say about my weight that I'm always quick to say "Type 1 diabetes since I was 2" to which I'm then often asked if I am on insulin!!
I think that as you've been doing so great without Lantus that it will be a maximum of 5.5

I know, it's one thing for Joe Public to assume that diabetes can only be caused by being overweight, but for a nurse to think that as well is really not very good :(

5.3% from me. Good luck!

Maybe that nurse should be sent on a training course! She should know better surely.

I'm going for the same as your last result - 5.5. Good luck. 🙂

I'm going for 5.8% - mostly because no-ones grabbed it yet :D Good luck!

Thanks everyone 🙂 It's very encouraging to see that you all put me in the 5% club still! I'll try not to disappoint! 😉

I don't normally join in with this, but sorry, northerner, I'm not putting you in the 5% club.........................................................................................
I'm going for 4.9%!

That might be going too far 🙂 Although we do have a couple of members here with an HbA1c in the 4s!

Off for my review this morning. It will be interesting to hear what the consultant has to say about me stopping the lantus. I did go back on it for a couple of days, but have been off it again for over a week now and waking with numbers well within range. It's almost certainly down to activity levels whether I need it or not, which does put a bit of pressure on to 'be good' all the time, but it does seem that I have that choice - either stay fit and active or start having to inject the lantus again. As I've said before, I think the main benefit to me of not needing the lantus is not having to worry about night hypos - I went to bed on a 4.6 last night and woke on a 5.2 this morning.

Trying to be good all the time does give me a little insight into how so many Type 2s must feel if they don't have insulin available as a tool to aid control, although I do of course still have my novorapid so food choices are much easier.

Hi Northerner - I hope it all goes well and the consultant is really pleased with you - I think a lot of it is down to your hard work - not many would get up at 5am to run the streets! Well done you.🙂

Good luck with your review this morning Alan 🙂
