Great, it will help you a lot.
Imo the powers that be in not providing us with a meter and enough testing strips is like forcing us to drive in the dark without any lights

Have a read of , Painless pricks by Alan S

Good luck with it. I wouldn't say that I 'love' mine, just that it's really helped me get a handle on things.

I named it Stabby.

Meant to say, when applying blood to the strip, give it time to fill up, the meter will let you know.

Thanks all.. will be testing the lancet soon... once i get the courage... lol ( a little needle phobic) but ill get there im sure its not as bad as im imagining ..
Thanks again.
Mick.

Well done, Mick, I use the Codefree too, and it's a great help! It took me a while to get the hang of it, but it's second nature now 🙂

For fun the other day I tested my husband - although he was expecting the 'small prick' he jumped a couple of feet when I jabbed his finger, and claimed he wasn't ready....:D (he was 5.2 before lunch, 6.2 two hours later after 3 slices of white bread with lunch...)

Good luck Mick, it should help you a lot with finding what foods effect you and in what way.

It will soon become a matter of routine. (And you'll soon know what times you can get the best scores as well! :D)

Ok well tested before I ate then 2 hrs later..
I had a couple of slices of pork and 3 small new potatoes ( running late so just something quick)
Initial reading was 8.5... then the last one was 9.5 does this sound right? I know the carbs in the potatoes wouldn't have helped... but to go up by 1?
Mick .

OK, not the best starting figure, but to rise by just 1mmol is absolutely spot on!

I call mine "It"

It's always fun to stand in a public place and say 'I've lost Stabby' and see people's expressions :D

I managed to get myself too close to my nail yesterday, that hurt like I'd just had my finger cut off.

I have another name for it but I would get banned if I used it here. That ends in "Thing" 😱 Try saying that in public lol
