I'm newly diagnosed and been on meds and new diet for 3 weeks now. I'm starting to have some issues with my hands and feet. Not painful not quite pins and needles but almost feels like there is some numbness or "going to sleep" feeling in them?

Is that normal when blood sugars are dropping? I've been testing 2 hours after each meal and they are now consistently below 6.

It can happen when blood glucose comes down quickly from making dietary changes and meds but should diminish once blood glucose stabilises, It can also affect your vision. But it is worth speaking to your GP or nurse to check for other causes.

I have noticed some neuropathy issues with feet as my blood sugars are reducing. Pins and needles and itching. Occasional sharp stabbing pains and burning which was worse at night. It has improved over the last month. I have had 2 foot checks since March and they were both OK.
Hubby also gives my feet a good massage in the evening before I go to bed. This also helps. Strangely enough my feet are not as ticklish as they used to be so that is a bonus.

Sorry to hear about your slightly tingly feelings in your hands and feet @guybrush :(

Hopefully this will just be a temporary change of sensation, but do get things checked if things are becoming uncomfortable, or if the sensations change

We have had to cut down on the heating and the bedroom was rather cold at might - plus my husband was hogging the duvet.
I put the summer weight duvet on top of the winter one and that kept my feet warmer, and I noticed the difference at once, then we bought a microfibre mattress topper (under £40) and the bed is so much warmer. Warmer than before we cut down on the heating.
I have had problems with my feet on and off since the Astra Zeneca Covid jab made me rather ill and my feet and lower legs were very swollen.
The warmth has reduced the residual swelling in my feet and I can just hop straight out of bed rather than carefully testing that my feet are going to be there for me. I have felt some twinges but I think they are a good sign.

As a fellow cold feet sufferer I can sympathise with you. I now wear bedsocks all year. I love our Mark's &Sparks 13.5 tog winter duvet. It's very light and snuggly warm.
Hope your feet continue to improve and soon you will be dancing around the bedroom

Thank you.
I still have morris bells, hankies, ribbons and sticks - I still play and teach - it was just that dratted AZ jab which really hit me hard. I thought I was done for for a while, I was so ill. It must have been effective as although I have had Covid a number of times now I only got strange side effects (as usual) rather than being very ill.
The weirdest thing was eating yoghurt and it tasting exactly like my mum's beef stew. I could even taste the OXO cube and the celery.

Thank you.

Wow the beef stew flavour yoghurt experience sounds totally weird. Is it still happening? I had covid & flu jabs the same day and was fine
Hubby did same and it set off his AF within a couple of days. Not sure which jab may have set it off, but nothing else happened at the same time and he is careful to take all his medication. Does having covid affect your blood glucose much? I had it back in 2021 pre- diabetes.

It was just that one time - still makes me feel a bit weepy though.
I had stopped testing my levels by the time Covid and the jabs were happening - my HbA1c was not affected and I coped better than many I knew - we lost our bass player to Covid caught in hospital after an operation.
