Hey everyone,
So a bit nervous. Our friends have invited us over for dinner spontaneously and its lasagne! And I have a feeling it will be with a dolmio type sauce . I haven't had pasta since diagnosis a month ago so quite nervous but I am honeymooning atm so not taking my novorapid before meals unless its above 10 which it hasn't been for around 2 weeks. Shall I just have a little bit not to be rude and then have spinach and a salad to fill my plate? Or avoid it completely?

P x

I was fed Mac and cheese only weeks after diagnosis. Just take a small portion and fill up on salad.

I had a small bag of pork scratchings in my bag in case of starvation later on :D

Gosh, did the eels come jellified in little bowls? Must have made the cheese taste quite peculiar... :D (sorry, couldn't resist 😉 )

Huh! *trots off to correct post!*

For a lot of people, pasta dishes can have a very delayed impact on blood sugar levels, often making it a difficult dish to inject for (when on insulin for meals). People with pumps will often extend the time period over which they deliver the insulin to take account of this, or an injector might split the injection dose into two. In other words, it can be awkward! 🙄 I would do as you suggest and just go for a small portion, and fill up on less carby items 🙂

Thanks everyone I had a smaller portion to what I normally would have I guess but before that I had a hypo so wasn't too worried about portion. Also I was 3.9 and took 4 jelly babies but 10 mins later did it again and was 3.6 has this happened to you guys? Didn't think it was possible to go lower after sugar? Worried me a lot! Xxx

Sometimes I need loads of sugar to stop the rot, but then of course I find myself ridiculously high later😱. With the big D anything seems possible😱. There's no logic🙄

What? You expect D and hypos to follow logical rules?

Don't be daft! LOL I spent a whole afternoon one day mega hypo, in someone's office. Just happened it was my DSN's office whilst I was attending my routine hospital appointment. I drank approx. 600 ml Lucozade, all of mine and another bottle of theirs, a coffee with several sugars and ate half a packet of biscuits she found in one of the typist's desk drawer before she'd let me drive home! (I mean, I couldn't have, it would have been illegal even if I'd wanted to!)
