Ok I can be a bit slow sometimes. Not sure if I got this right. Still in shock at the figures...

Just one packet of giant chocolate buttons is 1284 calories and 142.5g Carbohydrate.

Just one packet of wine gums is 624 Calories and 144g Carbohydrate.

And whisky...well, lets not go there.

At diagnosis I could easily eat a bag of chocolate buttons, a packet of wine gums, a packet of crisps, some whisky a day, AND some more normal meals too.

No wonder I gained a liitle weight and upset my pancreas.

What can I blame it on? Let me think...how about a high stress job, ill wife, rewarding myself, desperation, etc

Or ignorance and perhaps a bit of hiding my head in the sand

How things have changed now. In fact they changed overnight last November.

The point of this post? Just my astonishment at some of the rubbish out there and how easily we fall trap to it too.

I still prefer the thought of the old wine gums without the extra extra extra sugar they have now. Sadly they haven't been around for a very long time.

Yes I agree - it's shocking just how many carbs are in what I consider empty foods (polite term for rubbish!!) I actually felt quite guilty as I ate my 2 squares of dark chocolate yesterday, then realised I was over my self imposed carb limit for the day.

@Felinia please take care with food guilty. 2 squares of chocolate is not a lot.
Food guilty can be as dangerous as diabetes. So please look after your mental health.

That’s the extra large 240g bag of buttons youve got the calories for there though not a standard bag of chocolate buttons or even the large 119g sharing bag, so you may be over calculating there.
