Because of chronic illness I have what I refer to as having an ‘event’ that usually puts me in bed. It could be the start of an heart attack which then stops itself, dizziness or vascular inc Raynad’s/migrains, I also switch from tachycardia to bradycardia with increased QTc, my highest being 160bpm my lowest being 53bpm. My blood pressure can be 190/110 down to 90/60 towards the bottom I start fainting.
So I’ve been diagnosed as type2 (lab report says type 1) and 18 days ago started on Metformin 500mg and Gabapentin 300mg (along with my normal 12 other pills). I take Gabapentin morning and night and Metformin having a build up to 2 morning and 2 at night, I’ve managed ok until the 2 morning and night. Yesterday I felt my usual lethargy and stayed in bed and took my bp and pulse 90/66 and 55bpm yes fainting zone, today is pretty much the same maybe just a bit high in both.
What I don’t know, is it my “normal” or the Metformin, anybody experienced anything like this?

Metformin's most typical side effect is digestive upset, from nausea and possible vomiting in very rare cases to flatulence and diarrhoea. I haven't heard anyone mention low BP as a side effect of it. Have you read the patient information leaflet in the packet to see if low BP is listed there as a possible side effect? Alternatively you could ring the pharmacist who dispensed it and ask if you can't find the PIL for the Metformin to check yourself.
