Can anyone tell me if they have decided to stop in and use online shopping to avoid catching the virus? That would be a long time to do that wouldn't it,I'm worried about going out as have type 2 diabetes but surely the majority of people are going to have to, either because they have to go to work or they can't get online shopping or they have to collect prescriptions.
Even though even if I found ways to avoid going out,as you could say my job is always at home as I look after my mother full time at home,I'm still going to meet carers visiting the home,8 of them each day, although I can try and distance myself from them.

i dont really go out as it is to shops and now the jobcentre have cancelled signing I wont really be out at all, Bruce however still has to get the bus to and from work and as of now he's still going to the pub, the bus he gets to work at 7:40am only has about 6 passengers at the moment (my grandad usually gets that bus too but we are trying to limit his shopping trips) Tesco at least have introduced social distancing measures instore and I don't think it will be long before other shops follow suit, we have always gotten our shopping fresh on the day we use it so ordering online now would mean we starved until it was delivered, its entirely your choice what you do, everybody's situation is different so this is one you have to make a decision on yourself xx

Thanks, that must be a relief not having to go to the job centre,I remember the stress of walking in that place x

Most online shopping does not have slots if they have it is not for weeks, they also don't have slots for click and collect either.
We don't do either .
Have had an email from Sainsbury's this morning they are going to try and prioritize the online slots for over 70's and venerable, and ramping up their click and collect slots and collection points.

I cant say that, my advisor is a great chap and really friendly, although he is quite a tactile man and hugged us at Christmas and has a habit of putting his hand on your shoulder as he says see ya later so social distancing would've been difficult for him and he needs to as he was off rather quite ill last year, he emailed and then called yesterday to make me aware so I don't know when I'll next need to sign on xx

My mum was seriously ill and my dad had a head injury in 2009 which meant I couldn’t leave them , so I’ve shopped online since then. When my dad recovered I saw no fun in going back to into supermarkets to shop.

The trouble you will have starting online shopping now is being able to nook a delivery slot for the near future as many are now fully booked for 3 weeks.
Though they may have some click and collect slots available, this is where you order and pay for your shopping online, they do your shopping and at the pre arranged time you go to collect it at the store.

It is good to hear as they get get a lot bad press.

I shop online, usually once a month for bulky/heavy items, but I tried to book a slot after this panic started and the earliest slot I could get is April 6th :( I'm trying to limit my contact and trips out as much as possible, but it's not helpful when you have to go out repeatedly because the shelves are empty :(

I went out early this morning and managed to get some c**p bread and weird milk, which I wouldn't normally consider, but at least it saves me another trip out

Saw this - it's not just us vulnerable people that these panic buyers are causing problems for, it's the people we need to care for us and who shouldn't have to even think about how they will feed themselves :(

My other half had tin stuff he was storing for brexit, some is out of date, I thought he was throwing away but I saw the bag in the shed. It is not that out of date. I did say to my friend the other day if push comes to shove I will will eat what I have to . She was going to freeze the bread she had manged to buy in a few slices , to take at as she needs.

I'm getting VERY anxious that I'm having trouble finding what I'd normally have, I still have my psychological issues with food and I'm starting to fear I will just have to go without :(

The nurse should be ok as most areas now are setting things up for NHS workers etc so they can get access to groceries but that isn't helping us "ordinary" people

My mum was just out at Scotmid who have no bread, the lad that works there (known him for years, did Scottish country dancing together a few times through school competitions) says he thinks they will be getting back to normal by next week, says its not even been cause there's been strangers in, its all just regulars xx

Hubby will be trying to get some shopping, which has not been possible during the week, as despite spending hours loading lorries full of food for the supermarkets, by the time his shift finishes the shops are all empty. We have said before there is no shortage only greedy individuals who are fill there whole houses up.

I’m still going out and about a couple of times a day with the dogs, so it doesn’t feel that much of an extra risk for me to nip to the supermarket once or twice a week - though it’s harder and harder to limit supermarket shopping these days, and we are having to be a bit more creative, depending on which aisles have been stripped bare 🙄

I was able to pick up some stuff yesterday for a friend who is still recovering after a stroke, and is feeling very vulnerable.

At some point I may decide to switch back to online shopping, but while the advice is ‘distancing’ not ’isolation’ Im happy to still shop.

I've not been going out other than things I had to for awhile. Not virus related. Appointments, little bits of shopping (fresh stuff like tomatores) to suplement online orders.
I've not heard anything from Jobcentre about signings being cancelled :(

I checked Tesco's Monday as this week is pay week. No slots. (I'll have to check how many weeks.) And so much of my previous list is unavilable.

:( I'm sorry to hear this Kaylz

@Ralph-YK do you sign and when are you due to? I gave them a call wednesday and was told to hang fire but I would be taken into consideration anyway as it involved a bus packed with people finishing their shifts from the local hospital, but everyone received thos yesterday but I am I'm Scotland

If your unsure you should give your advisor a call

I have often wondered where these greedy folk are storing it all, or are they plannining to sell it at inflated prices later on.

We saw this coming months ago, so each week I’ve jus bought one or two extra tins or packs of things I normally buy. I’ve got a grand total of two packs of 9 loo rolls spare. I did buy a can of full cream powdered milk just in case but that’s all.

I’m annoyed as the next person about the greed and thoughtlessness of the binge buyers, especially being unable to find things like eggs, wholewheat pasta, Burgen bread ( or any other type of healthier seeded wholewheat bread for that matter.) I try to temper my frustration with the thought that I’m having to be a bit more creative with my diet, reduce potion sizes to ration what I do have and in the long run, might find I am eating even healthier than I was previously. Every cloud might have a silver lining. Back on topic re. online shopping, I believe the waiting list for this service is weeks, at least, so I limit my futile and fruitless visits to the supermarket as much as possible and at quieter times.

I haven’t shopped online for ages, just out of curiosity I logged on yesterday and there are no slots available for three weeks and they won’t let you book them any further ahead than that, click and collect was fully booked up too. So you're scuppered before you even start. However unless we all start coughing and have to do a 14 day isolation we can still go out so I’ll have to just go out shopping every other day and check out various shops and see what I can find. Daughter said she will help too once she's off school, she doesn’t want to get unfit now her dance classes have stopped so she said she'll go on “foraging missions” every day for me (I.e.walkong to local shops to see if she can find anything that I couldn’t get st the big supermarkets)

so I’ll have to just go out shopping every other day and check out various shops and see what I can find.

I had a little Twitter rant about this yesterday. It’s so silly that so many extra shopping trips (often involving vulnerable people) are being needlessly created by folks panic buying.

Just CALM DOWN and buy only what you need you great Herberts!

My friend was telling me a couple weeks ago she bought new freezer to replace the one her garage, that had broken a little while ago. As a result of the rush on orders her delivery was late, though the company did keep her informed.
I have understairs cupboard and a shed but they are already full with the stuff you keep them in.
