Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all, my name is José and I have been recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I am not on any medication... yet. I will have another blood test in June to see how I am doing. I am basically looking for dietary advice in order to reduce my blood sugar before the next text. I hope I will have some advice in the magazine!.

Hi @JoseOlveira and welcome to the forum. You'll find a wealth of experience here. I'm two years down the line and still learning from these lovely people.
Besides cutting out sweet things, cutting down the amount of carbohydrates you eat is really important. A gradual reduction is recommended to avoid dropping your sugars too rapidly which can cause problems with eyesight. That said, I just cut out all potatoes, bread, pasta and rice from the word go. I was lucky I didn't have any problems but I'd do it gradually if I had my time over!
Did they give you your hba1c when you were diagnosed?

Welcome to the forum @JoseOlveira

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

There are loads of helpful modules in the Learning Zone which you can work through in your own time.

There’s also a set of meal planner ideas, including a low carb one here:

And feel free to check the Food and Carbs section of the forum too, which has a long-running ‘what did you eat yesterday’ thread 🙂
