Also it seems like you’re assuming the arrow tells you which way it’s going next. It doesn’t. It tells you which way it has been going in the recent past, it doesn’t account for recent changes in direction. Eg if you’ve just eaten your blood sugar will start rising whilst libre still says it’s steady or dropping. It has to rise consistently for a bit before libre catches on and starts predicting correctly.

That’s why you can’t use libre after a hypo - it won’t catch on that you’re rising as soon as that happens.

Yes, 6 is fine but hypo anxiety is something else. It’s a genuine fear and not something that can be got rid of easily.

And the solution is practice having lower bgs not avoid ever taking insulin when you’ve got some working or prevent yourself ever having bgs of 6

Which is what I suggested to @Teapot99 I’m sure she knows a blood sugar of 6 is ok. It’s not that simple. When I dealt with my hypo fear, it took a long time to get things down, and someone telling me a blood sugar of 6 was ok wouldn’t have helped. It’s fear not ignorance of numbers.

It’s perfectly fine for me to tell someone 6 is not low when they have described a bg of 6 as “being in a frenzy” and displayed a lack of knowledge in understanding their libre and basic insulin use like bolusing for snacks.

@Lucyr I agree 100%, it’s because my bloods have ran high for years that to me that isn’t normal, with the added correction dose, exercise and then too much insulin on top of it, I had really strong hypo signs at 6 and because they’d gone down a lot in under an hour, I panicked more.
My DSN said that if I didn’t eat when I did, I would have had a strong hypo. I just ended up over eating in panic and then relating back to when I was younger and had to go into hospital with low blood sugar. Looking back, it was irrational to think that but I have a lot of PTSD around it. I was worried it wouldn’t go up and as I did a full dose of insulin for a meal where I should have split the dose. I panicked more

You didn’t have too much insulin if your lowest bg was 6

I agree, after having something to help raise my blood sugar slightly, they then dropped to around 4.3 which at the time, was low for me. With strong hypo signs, Thats when I went into a frenzy. I know now that I was fine, it was just at the time I wasn’t in the right head space

But that’s not because @Teapot99 mistakenly thought 6 was a dangerous hypo. The ‘frenzy’ is fear and anxiety. It’s like telling somebody with arachnophobia that there are no venomous spiders in the U.K. They know that. It’s not the cause of their fear.
 
Hypo anxiety is not fun at all - for about 2 years I went low carb so I didn't have to take too much Novorapid I was scared of it and it always sent me low (but not that low really - it was in my head!) 4 hours after food - it took me some time to trust my carb counting and insulin doses (DAFNE course helped, plus a change in insulin)

@mashedupmatt thank you for opening up! It’s definitely something that a lot of diabetics need to work on mentally. I have been told, and I definitely agree now, the ratios have been worked out by nurses/consultants that are trained highly in what is best for us. They use science and logic so we need to trust that and I feel like I am trusting that more and more each day. My BG levels have been between 8-10 twice today, something that I would have panicked about previously, but I was so happy about today! Slowly getting there :party:

It definitely is a marathon, not a sprint - I used to be petrified if my BG was in the 4's but now I trust the way I feel and the doses I've taken (But it has taken a long time!) - you will get there though - well done so far 🙂
