Insulin pen box

I was issued with 2 leatherette hinged pen cases some years ago. The plastic inside to hold the pens and needles is beginning to look a bit unhygienic. I understand the cases, made by Libby, are now classed as no longer issued. However, I find them very useful. Does anyone know where and how I can obtain a replacement? PS, Google and my local NHS diabetic team cannot help. See photo attached of cases in question.

I used to have cases like that years ago but always found the spring mechanism failed within a very short time making them impossible to close fully. I’m not sure from the photo what type of pens you have, but if the reusable type, they usually come with their own case. Otherwise, check out Amazon for “insulin pen case” and you will be overwhelmed with the choice!

Personally I keep all my kit together in one of these
but for short trips out a soft pencil case is fine

Yes, my NovoPen Echo reusable pens come with a case and as it is generally advised to replace them every 5 years, my case never gets too old.... but they are also hard cloth zipped cases so could theoretically go in the washing machine if they looked like they needed a spruce up.

I also can't tell if those are disposable pens or reuseable, but if they are disposable, I would encourage you to investigate the options for reusable ones. Usually better quality and some have extra features like a last dose memory and the cartridges take up less space in the fridge and better for the environment.

Before I had diabetes, I wouldn't bother with a handbag. So, when I was given all the diabetes paraphernalia to carry around, I looked to minimise the bulk and keep my handbag as small as possible. That meant, disposing of any cases - for finger prick meter and insulin pens. Despite the lack of cases and often just chucking them in a pocket, my pens and meter have always lasted a long time. They are all pretty robust. When I have a larger bag (e.g. to carry my laptop to work), I used a pencil case like @JJay. But that is only to make it easy to find things.
I am surprised I seem to be in the minority but have never understood the desire to carry additional bulk and weight around when the contents are not delicate.

It looks about the size of a glasses case, so something like that might do.

I've got a couple of medium blue Novopen fabric cases, size 18cms long by just over 6cm wide and 3cm deep at the hinge side, which has two 'rings' to hold two pens on one side and a mesh net on the other side, all closed by a zip, which I've never used, if that would be any good to you?

Those look like the old Humalog pen cartridges @millbrae I had one for ages too, and yes, they were good. However, I don’t think they’re made any more. Your best bet is to look on Amazon and order a pen holder from there or from another online site.They come in a variety of configurations so choose what would work for you.

@John Gray - I used one of those for about a decade - accompanied me everywhere I went when I used pens! Loved it, could always put my hand straight on it without needing to see into the depths of my husbands rucksack or the furthest corner of my pantechnicon sized handbag when they were in fashion. (That would be last century ....)
