I don't think it was much if anything to do with food - far more likely in my unmedically qualified opinion because of how a very painful accident affected my BG - to do with trauma and ongoing pain.
My brain said don't be ridiculous, you had that accident over a week ago, surely not still affecting my BG this long.
But my BG disagreed 'vociferously' except since it couldn't actually speak it just kept saying via fingerpricks that my BG was too high for the meter to measure (so over 31.0 on my meter) and I still had ketones though they gradually came back down again once I'd increased my basal by 300%. Took well over a month following the initial hospital stay while they operated on the kneecap I smashed, with gradually reducing the insulin increase, for my BG to subside to pre-injury levels.
Apparently this effect was a regular occurrence to my diabetes clinic - but since that was the only bone I'd ever broken - it certainly was to me!
