asking on half of a friend whos vegetarian and whos been told she may have to go on insulin
any advice recieved well

What is the concern?
Most insulin used today is "synthetic" and does not come from animals so it is fine for vegetarians and vegan.
And carb counting works the same for any diet.

Should be no different to anybody else taking insulin, balance insulin and carbs.
Have they tried diet and oral meds if Type 2.

No worries as synthetic human insulin is classified as vegan, halal and kosher. Obviously my porcine insulin is none of these things but with synthetic insulin I get no hypo symptom whereas I do as I drop to 4 and below with porcine (bovine manufacture was stopped because of possible links to "mad cow" disease.
