Hi, just wondering about correction doses after eating. If I eat something and get the carbs wrong(usually cos I can't work them out) and blood sugar goes high can I take more Fiasco to correct it and if so is there a time limit?

I wouldn’t correct too soon after a meal @Jugged as your insulin will still be working. How long have you had Type 1? Do you know your correction factor?

P.S - love the Fiasco typo!

Fiasco (brilliant!) lasts in the system for 3-4 hours depending on the individual (3 for me) so a correction so soon would not be advised at all - and how high are you talking after food are you considering a correction?

How long in advance of eating if at all, do you inject your "Fiasco" (I too love the typo!) and how long afterwards were you considering a correction?
I find that at breakfast time I still need to give Fiasp a considerable head start before I eat it, sometimes 30-40 mins depending upon my waking BG levels, but later in the day I can usually get away with 10-20 mins and if levels are in the 4s I can inject and eat but above 8 I need to give it longer.
Do your levels come back down to your premeal level by your next meal 4-5 hours later? If so then it is a timing issue with the insulin. If you go high and stay high and are still high by the next meal, then you didn't use enough insulin and generally you are advised to correct at that time ie add your calculated correction to your next meal bolus and inject it all together.
