Hello indenial

Hope you don't live up to your username for long!

Tell us a bit more about yourself and how you came to get your diagnosis.

It can be very hard to accept that you now have a lifelong condition - but the good news is that you *can* live a long, healthy, happy life with diabetes if you just make a few small adjustments.

This is a good starting point - http://loraldiabetes.blogspot.co.uk/2006/10/test-review-adjust.html

There are lots of great resources in the Useful links tread too - many new members with T2 find Maggie Davey's letter very helpful.

Of all the
chronic conditions there are, diabetes can be
controlled very effectively, and you can live a pretty
normal life with it. But, you have to work at it,
there's a lot you need to learn, and you've got to
make the decision to take charge and do what's
necessary to control it. Once you have brought your
diabetes under control, you'll find that there are
definite bonuses that go with it: you'll probably be
more fit than you've ever been in your life, you'll
have energy that you maybe thought had gone
forever, and you're likely to be in better mental
shape as well.

Hello from another newbie type 2. I was diagnosed in December, and this forum just last month.

Ask at your GPs about Desmond. It's a 6 hour course & provides some info. In my area you can do it as 2 half days or 1 full day.
There could also be a dietician you can see. My area has a diabetic one. Haven't got to see one yet so have know idea what it'll be like.
There are some support groups out there. My local one isn't to me.

Welcome to the forum.........

Its funny as I remember myself being in denial so clearly and it was 16 years ago, in fact, I remember a lot other different stages, anger, sadness....they were so clear and the transitions clear too......they all seemed to last the same time as well, weird......

your in a good place for advice and support that's for sure......

Welcome to the forum indenialxxxx 🙂
