Prevalence of diabetes in Europe in 2021| Statista

Spain had the highest prevalence of diabetes in Europe among their adult population with 14.8 percent living with diabetes, as of 2021, Portugal followed with the second highest share at 13 percent.

Germany at top with 15.3%. Ireland at bottom with 4.4%. UK 5.6%.

More importantly what are the reasons for the differences?

Seems to bear out the thinking that diabetes is a mix of genetic risk factors and environmental triggers.
