Hi am new to the site and was wondering if anyone had answer information on type 3 diabetes not 3c as am reading a lot of stuff and its overwhelming

Hello and welcome to the site.
I am sorry if you are not getting answers but I suspect that as 3 is a rarer sort, there aren't many around to respond - hopefully you can make contact soon.

Hi iv just made a appointment with the doctor so he can explain some things as alzimers keeps coming up but thank you for the reply

Are you meaning Diabetes following removal of pancreas or chronic pancreatsis? If so That is usally known as 3C and we have member's who have it.

Yeah he has cancer and had the tail end removed and now they said he has diabetes cos his pancritas isnt working. Now when he told me i thought it was 3c but iv looked at his paper work and it just says type 3 so we are very confused

Thank u just spoken to the husband and he said its not stoped working its the insulin from the brain to pancreas has stopped if that's any help

I think he has misunderstood, Insulin is produced in the Pancreas not the brain!

Hi @Bekki. I also had the tail and body of my pancreas removed 13 years ago and am a Type 3c. Type 3 is a rare type relating to Alzheimer’s. Your hubby, like me is Type 3c. He may still have some insulin left, I did for quite a few years. It’s not the end of the world, tell him I’m still here and living life to the full. I’m not sure I know what you mean about insulin to the brain, I think you’re getting mixed up with the Alzheimer’s type, just wipe that from your minds. Is your husband injecting insulin at the moment? Any other questions please ask. Elaine.

They mean 3C. It’s either a typo or they don’t realise it’s 3C as you will be surprised how many health care professionals have never heard of it. So hubby on insulin, that’s good. Is he managing ok? Is he on Creon too, the enzyme he takes with food? How long is it since his op? Sorry for all the questions. Elaine.

Welcome to the forum @Bekki

Sorry to hear about your husband’s cancer and his diagnosis.

I agree with others that it sounds like a typing mistake on his notes.

This page should help - type 3c can be diagnoses after a full or partial pancreatectomy

Type 3 is related to alzheimers and chronic insulin resistance of the brain

Since your husband’s diagnosis came about after the tail of his pancreas was removed it would indicate Type 3c - but as @eggyg says, there can be a lot of confusion about these rarer types among non-specialist HCPs
