Much love. I hope she’s home soon so you can at least give her a hug.

So sorry to hear this, massive hugs, hope she is home soon.

Aww Steph - {{{Hugs}}} for you - though I'm 110% sure your daughter could do with some too.

I was 22 so a bit older - but it DID certainly make me grow up in more and different ways than I'd hitherto imagined. Is it the same hospital you attend for your diabetes?

So sorry to hear the news of Alice’s admission to hospital.
She will simply be glad of your support. Thanks heavens for mobile phones.
However little she can say at present just having that contact will help.

Have you been able to contact her care team at all?

Look after yourself through this.
as far as we can tell, no diabetes specialist available so she is in by herself on an adult ward until Monday at least. They have put in a referral for her. They have apparently talked about teaching her to inject and I can't believe I can't be there

Yes, same hos

Yes, same hospital, although being the weekend there are none of the team there. Have emailed all I can think of, but don't really expect a reply. Just want to do something

Steph can you get an ipad or some other contraption so you can video call each other? That will be better than nothing. Please note I have no tech knowledge.

So sorry to hear this, @stephknits, no more to add except to send {{{hugs}}} to you and your daughter - be assured of the good wishes, thoughts and prayers of everyone here on this wonderful forum xxx

It may be worth her talking to her doctor about how much she can do at home with your support to see if she can get discharged sooner as you have experience managing diabetes. It depends on her levels and if they can be managed by injections and not need a drip etc obviously. It may depend on ward as to how amenable they are to her leaving before speaking the specialist.

So sorry to hear about your daughter Steph. Hope she is home soon. Xx

My husband went to drop her off some stuff and they very kindly gave him a mask and let him in to see her. Hopefully he will be able to stay for her first injection, as they are taking her off the drip later today.

Husband just got home. He got to be there for her first injection. Am hoping to be able to go tomorrow which will be a huge relief to see her. They seem to be bending the rules for us. Perhaps cos she is only just 16. Will hopefully sleep a bit more tonight (all of us!) And tomorrow will be a new day. Once again thanks so much for all your kind words, support and ideas. I am sure to be calling on everyone a lot over the next few weeks. Now,do I change my profile to parent?!!

That's fantastic news Steph, hopefully your daughter will be home on Monday at the latest. Also a big well done to your daughter for managing her first injection. ((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))

You could be both.

Big congratulations to your daughter for doing her first injection, and so glad that your husband was able to be with her. I hope that you are able to get in today, but otherwise what’s app video calls work well. I hope that she will be home soon.

If you were my mom, I fully expect she'd have asked me when I was going to tidy my room as soon I came out of hospital. Somehow - don't think you are!

Time she read it, then!!!
