Having had a whinge on here I thought that I should say that I am feeling much happier about my BG levels. They have been an average of 6.5 this week, some lower, some higher, so if I can keep that up or reduce it further that will perhaps save me from the threat of medication in September. Next week I should find out my treatment plan for my breast cancer. I do hope that the medication etc will not mess up my diabetes control. I don't even know if this is a fact or just something that I have imagined. Do the oestrogen suppressing drugs interfere with BG control? Does anyone know?

@happydog i am glad to read your levels have been improving.
My mother had treatment for breast cancer. As she put it, she found it “at the right” because her treatment of surgery followed by radiation was over a few months before the first lockdown. She is now on some drugs to reduce the chance of a recurrence and, apart from being bored with the pandemic, is doing incredibly well for a 79 year old.
Fortunately for her, but not so useful for you, she does not have diabetes (I am a family aberration) so I cannot report how the drugs are affecting her blood sugar levels.

Fingers crossed your blood sugars continue along the current trajectory and your breast cancer drugs don’t drag it off course.

Take care.

Well done getting things back on track so soon after your surgery!
Afraid I don't have knowledge or experience of that topic, so can't help either, but just wanted to wish you luck and cheer your on!

Thank you both for your replies. I am really pleased that the BG levels are falling. I have tried so hard to keep it in remission without medication. Everyone on here is so supportive and encouraging. I would not have managed without this forum. 🙂

Glad to hear your BGs have calmed down a bit @happydog

Best wishes for your cancer treatment

(((hugs)))

The doctor put in an incorrect prescription for Accu-Check FastClick lancets. if i return them to Boots they will just be thrown away.
Does anyone want them

@happydog - I wouldn't be surprised if the hormone suppressant drugs did affect the BG, considering how a) periods (or the week before them) affect BGs and b) so does the menopause. How they may affect your BG is anyone's guess since every single one of us is different in what affects our BG and whether it increases or reduces them.

I did not find that anything to do with my breast cancer or subsequent treatment had any effect on my diabetes control.
But then we are all different and that was 15 years ago and the drugs used will have changed since then. So would suggest just go with the flow and keep an eye on things as you go so you can keep it under control.
Best wishes for it all, l know it is a difficult and worrying time for you.
