Hey everyone, I'm relatively new just coming to terms with my new condition which is reactive hypoglycemia and wondered if anyone knew any good suggestions to help! But hope your all having a great day especially in this sunshine.
Hey I've been having some wobbly days and I have been confirmed to have reactive hypoglycemia and they would like me to speak to a dietician but the low sugars are out of my control like no matter what I do I tend to come low and more so at night the doctors said have a carbohydrates snack when U get them but nothing is working and it's struggling to stay above 5.Welcome to the forum @xcat.xoxo
Have you been having some wobbly moments that took you to the Dr?
We have had a few people who have been experiencing (or thought they may be experiencing) reactive hypoglycaemia over the years.
Have you been given a confirmed diagnosis? What sorts of experiences have you been having? Have they made any suggestions of things you may be able to do to help?

Sounds like you should speak to the dietician then, or the doctor in the mean timeHey I've been having some wobbly days and I have been confirmed to have reactive hypoglycemia and they would like me to speak to a dietician but the low sugars are out of my control like no matter what I do I tend to come low and more so at night the doctors said have a carbohydrates snack when U get them but nothing is working and it's struggling to stay above 5.

So I have a CGM and also the manual finger testing and they both show the lows I've been having like I've been hitting 2.9 but also suffer with seizures but the blood sugars seem to be having more lows during the night but I also have them after certain foods I've ate.How do you know your blood sugar is going low at night? Are you testing? RH doesn’t usually happen at night, which makes me wonder if you have something else going on.
Hey thereHi and welcome.
Below 5 is perfectly normal for a person without diabetes and especially so during the night when it is not uncommon to naturally drop a bit below 4 during the depths of sleep.
How are you testing?
Hey thereDid you receive your diagnosis in hospital @xcat.xoxo ? You say your new condition - do you have other conditions too? What symptoms are you having?
Hey there
I received the diagnosis in hospital and I do have other conditions that which is NES Non-epiletic seizures but the symptoms I have with the low sugars is hunger, irrational, shaking and my legs feel like jelly I also feel light headed.

Yes I do and they read in the 3s and when it's hit it's lowest of 2.9 I started to have a seizure and it's all be diagnosed by the hospital and my doctors are trying to sort a dietician out. And since speaking to the doctors we've been changing things around like have 3-6 small meals a day and I've done the test for RH.Do you test your blood sugar when you have those symptoms? Did they actually do the test for RH in hospital or was it mentioned just as a possible diagnosis while you were there? The only person I know with RH has a much more severe reaction.
What would an average day’s food look like for you at the moment?
Thankyou so much that's roughly helped with what foods to eat and avoid but also I will speak to the dietician as soon as I have appointment. But thankyou again.Hi @xcat.xoxo and welcome to the forum - Reactive Hypoglycaemia sounds like a real challenge - sorry to hear you're struggling with it - I've done a bit of research into the condition and it appears that it is best controlled with diet - so as others have suggested, a dietician should be able to help the best I reckon

Some introduction to carb counting would also help I think - a dietician should be able to help you with that
