At risk of diabetes
Hi everyone, I m new to this forum. My Doctor sent me details as I've just been diagnosed as prediabetic. My sister is Type 1 & both my parents were Type 2. Thanks for reading I'm looking forward to being part of the community.
 
Welcome to the forum, with that sort of history it is as well to be pre warned about the need to be careful of your carbohydrate intake to keep increase in blood glucose at bay for as long as possible. Some people don't get that wake up call and find themselves over the threshold before they know it.
Prediabetes cover HbA1C results between 42mmol/mol and 47mmol/mol so depending on whereabouts you are will depend on how much you will need to do. I expect you have a bit of knowledge about the why's and wherefores of Type 2 but ideas on how to manage the condition may have changed since your parents were diagnosed.

Remember low carb is not NO carb and some modest changes should be all that is required to bring your blood glucose level down to normal.
Whatever you choose has to be enjoyable as it really has to become a new way of eating for the long term.

It's a good thing that you've found us early as many have been able to get their numbers within a healthy range by making consistent improvements to their diets.

It's worth keeping a food diary for a week and having a look at where you can reduce your sugar/ carb intake. This includes things like oats, bread and sugary drinks.
