Its called Juggle and I've copy and pasted what it covers below - think its just Nottingham based so would be interested to hear from any members from Nottingham who have been on it to let me know if they found it helpful.

In week 1 we talk about what diabetes is, what has happened to the body and how we can treat it and keep a check on it. We discuss how diabetes tablets work and why some people take tablets and some don't.

In weeks 2 and 3 we cover what to eat and what to drink when you have diabetes paying attention to where sugar comes from and what we can do to keep our hearts healthy.

In week 4 we talk about the importance of looking after diabetes and the tests that should be carried out to ensure you are staying fit and healthy.

Sounds good Karen! I hope you find it useful and meet some nice people 🙂 Be sure to recommend the forum to them! 😉

I've already printed off some stickers to hand out 😉

Sounds interesting , hope you enjoy course 🙂

I wish you would not abbreviate your words have you not read the rules for this place i had to work out what tomoz meant 😛😛

Good luck on the course, enjoy it.

It sounds a like the Xpert course I did last year. I hope you enjoy it and get lots of benefitfrom it. Let us know how you get on.

Sounds very interesting, looking forward to hearing if you find out more and useful info on it

Went for first session today - only 3 other people on the course all considerably older than me, one of whom very deaf and cantankerous who kept telling the young man doing running the course to speak up, so ended up with a headache lol.

I was most impressed that they were really plugging the testing side of things.

I knew all of what they told me this week but i'm sure that's because I found this site shortly after diagnosis. The old dears did find it helpful though because it seems they really hadn't been told much at all by their GPs.

Am hoping to find out more about the nutrition side of things next week which is what I want to find out more about anyway.

Sounds like they know their stuff Karen, good to hear 🙂 Didn't know whether to laugh or shake my head at the lady asking for three sugars! 😱

I was most impressed that they were really plugging the testing side of things and when I said I had trouble getting strips from my GP they said they would write to him for me.

The old dears did find it helpful though because it seems they really hadn't been told much at all by their GPs. On a side note the deaf biddie asked for 3 sugars in her tea! The nurse very kindly made it for her but said she wanted her to stay behind after to discuss.

Hi Klocky,
How old do you have to be to be classed as an old dear? :D

I'm 72 years young and am fit, active and have a brain that works very well. I volunteer at our local school with reading and maths help for the children and work as a volunteer in a charity shop. When you are young you think that old age is something that happens to other people. Believe me when I say that it creeps up on you and before you know it, you are classed as an old dear. There is only one alternative and it is not very pleasant.

Glad you are enjoying the course, anything that helps you understand the management of your diabetes has to be a good thing.
