.... and why.

A light hearted one here.

If you could have a day off and indulge yourself in one specific food, regardless of the consequences, what would you go for ??

For me...

A fresh loaf of Soreen malt loaf.

Open the packet, raise to the nose and inhale deeply. Enjoy one of the finest smells on god's earth. Before next step.

Then, slice the whole loaf. Thicken each slice with butter. Pair slices butter face to. stack and wrap in foil.

Get in car with Coffee in travel mug.

Embark on regular long journey.

When on M6, enjoy one slice at a time.

Should see you/me through to Toll road quite nicely.

No wonder I'm diabetic.

Haven't touched a spot since diagnosisbut.....BS under control 6.9 at 1st/last HBa1C.

Enjoy 🙂

Mark😛

For some reason, right at this minute:

Macaroni Cheese with a full pizza size garlic bread..........🙂

ooohhh I like this thread!

Strawberry cheese cake all the way ! mmmmm......

Oh and I would also have some blue cheese on crackers as I'm not allowed that these days.

Oh my!

I could really go a curry right now. Tandoori Prawns, Aloo Gobi, Raita, complete with Popadums, rice and Naan bread. And a large Cobra of course. None of that awful lime pickle stuff though :D

So many choices ummmm!

Would probably be:

Starters: garlic bread with cheese

Main: Chicken Korma with lots of white rice

Pudding: Death by Chocolate with double fresh cream

Coffee & Mints of course

Possibly if with hubby (also T2) stop at local kebab van later!!

Sausages and Mash, Beano-style :D

Family-sized trifle :D

Bottle of 'Starka' Russian vodka 😱

Steak pie n chips covered in a rich thick gravy and a vanilla slice for desert:D

Full rack of barbecue ribs smothered in sauce, chips, as many sides as I can fit on the very large plate. No starters, I want plenty of room for the ribs. If I can squeeze in a pudding I'll have New York cheesecake.

Back to your original post Mark, did you know that Soreen now make lunchbox-sized individual malt loaves and banana loaves?

I love Soreen, buttered with cheese slab on top :D Sadly though, I went through a period when it seemed to pull the fillings from my teeth and haven't risked it for many a year :(

Doing that would probably get you a well deserved driving ban as well 😱😛

Check out Bedworth on a map, and the location of MY end of the M6 Toll.

But if there's a prize, I could absulutely do it!

Slices

I'm glad we;re enjoying the thread :D

Re: "Back to your original post Mark, did you know that Soreen now make lunchbox-sized individual malt loaves and banana loaves?"

Thanks Lee, yes I did. Mrs. has often mentioned them, when I bemoan lack of a decent snack in the house. But I thought the orginal ones were Lunch Box sized? Well my old lunch box anyway😉

Better off without the stuff in the house completely, now I'm safely through cold turkey. Don't want to fall off the wagon completely.

Northerner.. Surely the Vodka, with perhaps a slimline tonic is OK? 😱

If not, I've been seriously off track with my Bombay Saphire and SLT, the last few Friday nights.:(

Steak and Ale Pie with garlic and mustard mash, the mash put through a ricer and then whipped with butter and cream. Extra-rich gravy. Roast parsnips and Savoy cabbage. A can of Ruddles bitter. I'm not a pudding fan but if I have to - bread and butter pudding using brioche and the very best apricot jam.

Ooh I would die for a large gypsy tart with half inch thick filling - to be eaten a small teaspoon at a time and savoured very very slowly.

A steak baguette smothered with onions and mushrooms and thick cut chips mmmmmm washed down with an ice cold beer 🙂🙂🙂

Ooooooooooh!!!! Don't forget the HP Fruity.

I would work my way through the menu at my local Chinese.:D

Tiroler Germkn?del:

It's a sweet yeasted flour dumpling filled with plum puree and topped with cinnamon spiced crushed poppy seeds mixed with sugar and smothered with a thin vanilla sauce.
