If they're people from any time in history, I think it could be (without my order indicating any kind of hierarchy):
1) Jesus
2) Muhammed (PBUH)
3) Shakespeare
4) Pythagoras
5) Rosa Parks
6) Alan Turing.

I'd hate to have to cater for their various (and probably incompatible) dietary needs though! It reminds me of 'Come Dine with Me': "I can't eat fish and I hate carrots - and I don't like starters".

1. Ian Anderson (sorry to pinch from your list @harbottle!)
2. Geoffrey Chaucer
3. JRR Tolkien
4. Queen Maud/Empress Matilda
5. Vaughan Williams
6. Albert Einstein

No specific names but I would invite
- someone to cook the food
- someone to mix the cocktails or select the wine
- my parents - because they would really enjoy being waited on with good food and they won’t be around forever (or is that irrelevant when you can invite dead people 🙄)
- someone who has lived through rationing/food shortages - so they can really appreciate the food and enlighten us with insights into their lives
- a well travelled journalist who can explain some of the modern history about the world today and entertain us with a few light hearted stories too

Put Aleister Crowley. on your list. It is said he could knock up a mean curry.

Very difficult choice:

Mike Hailwood (the ultimate motorcycle legend)
Marcus Waring (I ate in his restaurant a couple of times - he could come early to cook)
Mick Jagger
Steven Hawking (grammar school boys in the same town)
Leonardo da Vinci
George Mallory (did he conquer Everest 100 years ago?)

Also my father to find out if he had been hiding the symptoms of the heart disease that took his life prematurely.

I think I would have to have some women as well.

Sophie Scholl
Sandy Denny
Rachel Carson
Daphne Du Maurier

I suppose it depends what sort of dinner you’re going for? Invite someone like “Sigmund Freud.” & you’d be surprised how many people clam up on the small talk when he starts asking questions on the backgrounds. 😛

Oh yes, Sandy please, please, please!

I don't know half of these peoples. I'm so ignorant.

I'd luv to know the answer to the Everest question so I think that's a good one. Not sure about meeting Jesus, I'd be nervous. Would I have to make small talk? No can do. 🙂

I'd have ... do they have to be dead?
Chris Rock
Peter Kay my two fave comedians and I luvs to laugh
Robert Westall
Mary Magdalen
Elizabeth 1
Diana Dors

I hope Diana Dors wouldn't be bringing Alan Lake along 😱

Duke Ellington
John LeCarre
Sophia Loren
Paul McCartney
Harrison Ford
Genevieve Bujold
Simone de Beauvoir

I cheated but it's my dinner party.

L
My Parents & My Brother (who’ve all passed away)
My Wife (Because I love her and she never met my Dad)
Elvis (to sing for us)
My Old Headmaster (from my secondary school)
I didn’t like him - nor him like me
but now I’m grown up, I would tell him what I think of him, see don’t think back in those days they understood Dyslexia,
Im going to say I’m not one to hold a grudge, but I would like to make my old Headmaster go and sit in the corner, be silent and look at the wall
until I let him go home (he would  turn in his grave) If he saw this
most likely it’s full of :rofl:gramatical errors (edit: removed his name)
wonder if anyone else on here went to the same comprehensive school school as me

So I’ve already chosen my Six
BUT, technically not invite him to dinner
<32 draft in Tom Kerridge to sort out the catering for us, why I chose him ?
obviously other Chefs might be available and I’m sure quite willing to cook for this exclusive event, I got Toms book when he shed 12 stone on his Dopamine Diet, I must try and find it that book I seen it since we bought our bungalow nearly 2 years ago
