Im sure that somewhere on forum I have read about packs that you can store insulin in that will keep them chilled. Does anyone have any experience of these ie are they very expensive to buy any good etc

Hi Gail boots sell them for about 13.00 and i have only heard good things about them.

I think you're thinking of the Frio cooling insulin packs Gail. Haven't used them myself, but apparently they work very well. You activate them with cold water and they then stay chilled for a couple of days before they need 'rechilling' 🙂

I've never bothered with Frio packs, as I already owned several stainless steel vaccuum flasks, which work fine when filled with cool water from fridge - NOT ice - and offer much better physical protection against knocks. Even if you have to buy one, it'll only cost around ?5 for a 500ml flask or ?8 for 1 litre flask.

I use the Frio packs they are very good - they do need to be allowed to "breathe" though so you need them in an open topped bag or mesh pocket - not in a zipped handbag. You also need to buy a liner if your pen has any metal parts - they only cost about ?2 but are not included in the pack. You live and learn!

Thankyou everyone for your replys
