Has anyone had problems getting ice packs through security ?
I have just purchased a Medicool Daily Organiser and hope to use it from Gatwick, but not sure whether it will be frozen enough by the time we get to security, anyone had any problems?,

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I would very, very strongly recommend against using ice packs for keeping insulin cool. There is a very real danger that you can inadvertently freeze the insulin, rendering it completely useless.

Much, much safer to use something like a Frio pack which keeps insulin cool (rather than cold) and can be activated with water either before or after going through security.

We flew to New Zealand with all my insulin in a Frio bag. 29 hours later, in our Auckland hotel room, insulin still nice and cool.

I prefer a cheap (£5) stainless steel vaccuum flask, 0.5litre, which protects insulin cartridges, still in their palstic / foil blisters, against temperature extrems, being squashed, being broken when dropped etc. Fill with cool water from fridge before leaving home, empty water into sink / toilet before going through security, then refill with cool water from taps. Once in hotel, place insulin in fridge, if there is one, freeing up flask for carrying tea / fruit tea / coffee / cool drinks.
