Please does anyone know how Jude's lower calories ice creams differs from most of the others eg Oppo and non branded versions. Why is it the only one that does not effect my blood sugar? It's so expensive I need to identify a cheaper alternative but it seems to be sort of special magic.

Assuming you’ve checked the ingredients against those of, say, the Ben and Jerry’s Moophoria range?
I can eat B&J M with almost no impact on BG levels but any other make is a no no.

I have just looked at the web sites for Jude's and Oppo all sound delicious. They are quite similar in the carbs/ 100g in the order of 10g and both have artificial sweeteners as well as some sugar but no obvious difference to account for the effect on your blood glucose.
Maybe regard them as a treat anyway so cost not too much of an issue.

I only eat about a flat dessert spoonful of vanilla at a time, and because vanilla really truly is my favourite, and a tub of it lasts, I'd rather pay more and invest in proper vanilla (with seeds) rather than fancy mucked about stuff. I savour and enjoy every taste of it.

You can make ice cream at home using eggs and cream - the real stuff, and flavour it however you like, or eat it with berries and/or jelly.

Do you still use insulin, you said in another post you were on a fast acting one?

I use both

If you are on a fast acting insulin, it should be possible with careful dose adjustment, and dose timing, to enjoy any brand of icecream with relatively modest BG impact.

Of course, this is the *theory*, but many of us on insulin discover that some foods seem determined to not play by the rules. Just depends on how many experiments, how much ‘research’, and how many failed attempts you are prepared to put up with to try to get the dose(s) to work fairly reliably, I guess? 🙂
