I always have a tub of nice proper vanilla ice cream in the freezer for my hubby. He then adds sauces, fruit or nuts as he fancies at the time. I like it but don't eat it at the moment and stick to yoghurt or cream instead. I tried Halo 'ice cream ' which is ok in small quantities and fairly low carb. The chocolate flavour is the only one I like.
I have an icecream maker and am probably overdoing the ice cream at the moment but it is zero carb so what's to worry about?
I have packs of frozen berries in the freezer, a few lemons as lemon icecream is very refreshing - I find that frozen peas run through the blender with a little salt make peanut flavour icecream - I think the clue is in the name.
Surprised you don't have a tub of rum and raisin in the freezer @Martin.A Have to say I am happy to pass on the cone and just have a scoop in a tub if out and about and save the few carbs that the cone adds. I couldn't keep a nice ice cream at home though as I have no off switch, so best left as a very occasional treat when I am out and about in the summer.
It's easy to make 'ice cream' with evaporated milk, cream and flavourings (cocoa, nuts, olive oil ...) - just whisk, mix, put in small pots and freeze. Google 'evaporated milk ice cream recipe'.

Evaporated milk contains lactose, and is beyond the limit of carbs I set for myself.
If you are not using just cream and eggs for your ice cream 'custard', be sure to total up the carb content.

Correct. Carnation evaporated milk has 6.1g of sugar per 50g serving. As I recall, the pots I made had about 25g of evaporated milk, about 3g of sugar. The advantage was simplicity and speed.
