I've just received a letter from my surgery, like others on here, telling me that I am being changed to the above meter and strips. I can't decide whether to have one or go independent and buy my own strips. Luckily as T2 I don't have to test that often so I could afford it. I've heard mixed reviews about the icare meter so I'm in a quandary. I love my One Touch Ultra and am sorely tempted to keep it but don't see why I should have to pay. Hmmm.

Do a comparison. What does your current meter offer that the iCARE doesn't? If you can come up with enough reasons, you may be able to get an 'exception' from the surgery and continue with the meter you have.

There are many Type2s who do not have the luxury of being prescribed a meter. I know what they would say.🙂

Thanks both of you. I will try it and see what I think.

I have had the icare meter for about a year now and i think its great, i will admit when they first gave it to me i was not happy with what i saw as a cheap and inferer meter, but overtime i have changed my mind its a nice little meter and very easy to use and if it helps the NHS save some money to spend elsewhere so be it
