I was looking up whether napping in the day causes hypo in type 1 diabetics and I found a post by someone on the forum on the general Internet search. The lady in question was type 1 diabetic and she was having power naps in the day, just like me it was in the afternoon. Now I check my sugars just like her before I sleep, and it can be high then when I have the power nap I end up hypo everytime. A person replied to her and suggested maybe it was indicating a problem with the stomach, the food sitting in the stomach and it's a slightly or completely paralysed stomach. I was diagnosed with ibs a few years ago I've suffered high sugar levels for around 20 years never been much controlled. I wonder have I been misdiagnosed and actually it's not IBS but caused by the uncontrolled diabetes?

Woh I looked this up by chance but I'm pretty sure it is autonomic neuropathy that I have. I sweat too much, got urine issues (can't start a wee, frequent weeing) and ibs like symptoms and pain in legs I think its all pointing towards autonomic neuropathy. I will call docs ASAP. They referred me to hospital 2 years ago and I never got a phone call even but now I can tell them this.

Firstly don’t panic. I have gastroparesis (delayed gastric emptying) which was diagnosed 12 years ago by the gold standard test which is a gastric emptying study. The symptoms are completely different from IBS which I also have. The most important thing you can do if you think that you have any form of neuropathy - which must be diagnosed by medical professionals - is get your diabetes under control. How do you treat your diabetes, including dealing with BG test results?

you really need an appointment with your doctor as you mention can't start a wee which is a symptom of something so best to get a consultation. don't keep waiting.

Some medication can cause problems starting a wee too.

Do try to get an appointment to discuss your concerns with your Dr @Ditsy daisy
