Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Can they make me do this. What holiday? I am home due to type 2 diabetes.

I feel this is not right. Any views welcome. Thank you

I have nothing proactive to add. Society at the moment is not as we know it. Peoples crying on the news at having to let people go, it would break your heart. It does seem very unfair and they're probably taking advantage but the bosses are also probably at their wit's end! Selfishly I'm glad I'm 'retired' and just hope my pension keeps appearing in my bank. The Gov are talking in trillions now moneywise rather than billions. Scary times. (((hugs)))

Do you have any other serious health problems apart from Type 2 diabetes? If not, then your company is already going further than it needs in offering you 12 weeks off with 2 weeks holiday, they don’t have to offer you anything at all, since we as people with diabetes are being 'strongly advised to practise social distancing' but are not advised to self-isolate. If you have other health problems, such as are on the government list of people who should self-isolate, then you will be contacted by the NHS by letter in the next few days telling you what to do.

I am thinking that you probably work for the same supermarket as my hubby, whilst I understand your frustration at being made to take 2 weeks leave as part of the 12 weeks, at least they are looking after your health. I know that does not help you with any future plans, will they let you take unpaid leave later in the year if you need leave? I know that impacts you financially, but not really sure what else you can do. I know where hubby works a type 1 diabetic turned up for work and I believe they sent him home.

It’s all such a mess isn’t it? M
I feel quite lucky that I am in teaching so my job will
be secure at the end of all this. I’m also quite lucky in that my head has told me to stay home until my maternity leave starts as I am 31 weeks pregnant and diabetic. I will receive full pay until maternity leave starts.

I work for M&S and they have just sent out a statement from head office saying that certain people will have to self isolate for 12 weeks from tomorrow following government advice. They gave a list of conditions that people may have and to stay indoors. Diabetes was NOT on the list. So I will be in work tomorrow at 5am ready for the idiots to descend at 8am when we open.

At the end of this there will be years of mass unemployment and economic depression. Job security? No.
I would hope the world still needs its educators.
