But I do now!!!!

I seem to be going to bed on levels of around 13, after ~30g carbs started in 6s, then now i'm waking up at 11. All I can seem to figure is that for some reason insulin response to high blood sugar is being 'switched off' at night. It's probably worse than it ought to be at the moment, I have justified reasoning!

Really gets on my nerves, has happened a few times now. But when I reached 25 the other week it shot down to 15 over night which seems sort of odd, as if my highs are recognised higher.

I wish somebody could tell me some reasonable answers!!!
I think i'll write a list, seeing the Endo next month 😉

It might be worth doing a middle-of-the-night test Liz, to see if your levels are fairly steady overnight or if they are dipping a lot and then rising again. If they are staying fairly steady then it might be worth trying to go to bed lower so you don't spend all night at higher than normal levels.

You never know, there might be something in it, that if you are exceptionally high at 25 before bed then maybe this is enough to give your pancreas a kick, which it doesn't if levels are just around the 10-15 mark - seems logical and definitely something to quiz the endo about! 🙂

Also, if you're particularly stressed, your cortisol levels could be driving your liver in an erratic way.

There's so many inter-related mechanisms that it's hard to pin down what's causing anything without proper medical tests. Which they should have done by now.

Have you had a cgm yet ?

Rob

I did wake up several times last night actually and thought I ought to check and never did. Perhaps it was that I dropped low (tends to wake me up) and since i've probably got some sort of high liver storage at the mo it might send it up higher than usual perhaps?

I never get thirst with these kinds of levels or any other symptoms even when they are overnight. Is this normal? Does it mean my body is 'used' to these levels? Although you would think i'd still be thirsty because its a real reaction opposed to feeling crappy because of a high.

I haven't had a CGM no, never had it mentioned either but I think it might help a lot and actually show them the lack of pattern my BS has!

Update: went to bed

Wednesday Night, Bed time: 13.3
Thursday Morning Wake up, 11.1. Had scrambled egg and off too 4hr Lecture.
Thursday Before Lunch, 6.9

Friday 3am, 8.9
Friday on Wake up, 7.6
Awesome... getting somewhere! But low carb dinner (salad) night before followed by a starbucks 😎

Friday night, Rice dinner, then had chocolate and hummas & pitta (Bordem Eating!)

This morning on wake up, 11.9
Ate some porridge with a little agave, about 1hr1/2 after 16.4. Normally i'd have eggs but I decided to see what something different would do :(

Hopefully in a couple of days it will settle down/drop dramatically as i'm due on and this is all adding extra stress at the moment! So not helping.

I have been trying to find out what happens in LADA/Slow Onset diabetes to see the process it follows like what fails first etc but with no luck. Can anybody enlighten me 🙂
