I was looking at the recipe page and couldn't believe the amount of carbs in the meals. I have been trying and generally succeeding in keeping below 25grams per meal.
Yes my BGL's have reduced beautifully but boy am I bored of my diet
Thoughts anyone????

Sally...I have never counted the total number of carbs in meals since my diagnosis...I just check the total number of carbs per hundred grms of food ...try to limit myself to foods that are less than 5grms per 100 grms volume...then there are the carb free options...have you considered those...the list of carb free foods is vast...might be an option for you to add those for some variety...have a look at @Mark Parrott threads ...he is a legend here for low carb recipes...meals...desserts & puddings that anyone would be tempted by.

Can I check which recipe page you mean? The recipe and food section of this forum or recipes section of Diabetes UK website?
Being honest, the only recipes I use are for baking, only once or twice a year. The rest of the time, I cook without recipes, as things like stews, soups and salads can all be made to taste, as exact ratios, as needed to make a decent cake, are not required.

Have you experimented with higher amounts of slow release carbs and eating at different times of day? Also spreading the carb load out instead of consuming it all at once? That might give you more flexibility in your diet if you are stuck in a rut.
Although I take insulin I have just the same issues with spikes after meals as people who don't and I reduced my breakfast carb intake to 20g followed by exercise before I managed to get control over the post breakfast spike. I seem to be able to get away with far more carbs in the evening despite sitting around after my meal. At lunch I save part of the carbs for an afternoon snack, e.g. An apple, small banana or protein bar just before my cycle home. As you say, we are all different and I'm just mentioning these things to give some ideas for getting out of a rut!

Yeah, tiz. Low carb food tastes great, is satisfying, makes you feel healthy, makes your skin glow, gets your blood glucose on an even keel and is boring as all get out. :D I wanna be bad!

I wanna be bad!

But you must not Ditto! 😉:(

On topic, yeh slow release seems to be the way to go. I have just rediscovered Buckwheat, ( not actually wheat though, ) find it hardly affects blood sugar; I like the taste and it has other, multiple health benefits! Another option found! 🙂

I'e been having Buckwheat since diagnosis. Works well for me.

Me too !! My morning BG isnt the best even if I don't eat and usually at it's lowest at 5pm no matter what lunch has been - usually low carb but I have had days when only food in staff canteen and no time to go elsewhere due to meetings etc. I've had a jacket potato with cheese..
