i 'm having high blood readings especially when waking , although I have very few carbs
Some morning I have 13.3! Getting more and more worried

Hello Zoesparkle,

I don't have enough experience to help with the diabetes side of things I'm afraid but I'm sure that someone will be able to talk with you about it. I was only diagnosed this week and everyone has been very welcoming and helpful.

Try and find some "me time" this weekend to kick back and relax or do something you enjoy doing - a soak in the bath or a nice walk in the countryside, whatever allows you to forget the stresses for half an hour and recharge. Take care of yourself 🙂

Hi Zoesparkle. What kind of levels are you having during the day? If this rise is mainly on waking, you may be experiencing the Dawn Phenomenon which many diabetics experience. This explains it;

http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/diabetes/expert-answers/dawn-effect/faq-20057937

I found my morning levels high at first but once my daytime levels stabilised and I lost some weight, the morning levels gradually decreased. It can take time to happen. I also find that if I'm stressed, have slept badly or are in pain with my joints, my levels are always higher on waking. For example I was 6.3 at bedtime and woke on 7.6 this morning because I had a bad night. However I'm not on meds.
If it continues, discuss things with your GP or nurse. It could be you need different/more medication but give yourself some time and I'm sure you'll get there. Good luck.
