Hi All,
i am new to this site. I just wanted to find out if there are others out there with an insulin pump and how you are getting on. I was offered pump therapy today when i saw the DSN, I'm 47 coming up to the menopause and BS is going high and low as a result. But I don't have really bad hypos so i was very surpirsde about being offered the pump. Anybody else out there my age with a pump. How are you getting on with it? Is it hard to adjust to?
i would appreciate any views.

hi iris and welcome if you look thorugh the forum posts you will see a few already use or are getting pumps very soon , anyways a warm welcome x
 
Hi Iris, welcome to the forum! There are quite a few pumpers here (I'm not one myself), and the general consensus appears to be that they are great! I'm sure one or two of them will pop in to tell you about it!🙂

Welcome to the forum, great to have you on board.
It is good to hear you been offered a pump, especially without necessarilly pushing for it- are you aware this is not a common occurance?! You are lucky! And good for you, shows you have a willing and proactive team behind you.

I am nearly a pumper as of next week. I will definately post and let you know what I think!

there are quite a few poeple on here who pump or are the parents/partners of people who pump so i think the advice should be coming thick and fast for you 🙂

myself i have been turned down for my pump as my levels are superb without one lol so never mind.

Hi Iris,

Welcome to the site. Hopefully you will find it very useful and full of lots of help and support.

I am 34 and have been on a pump since January 2008. I was really worried about having to wear it all the time incase it was uncomfortable or the canula getting caught by my kids etc. Within 48 hours I was used to it and there have been a couple of times where I have almost worn it into the shower lol

I am pro pump and have found it much better the the DMI. Good luck with it if you get the go ahead.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your replies re the insulin pump so far. I am looking forward to more discussion. The more I'm thinking about it, the more it seems the right thing to do, but i must admit I'm scared! All this new technology to get used to. What if I get it wrong.
