7.0 this am had three units of humalog for a small carton of smoothie

Noon 12.3. Had 5. Units of humalog and two slices of peanut butter on toast

2.30. 16.8 so had another 5 units of humalog after yesterday's problems

Just tested at 5pm and it's 23😱 nothing makes any sense in the last two days. Going to change all of my insulins again. Also just checked and I've got high ketones again. Can't understand why it is all going wrong in the space of just two days

Does look like faulty insulin unless your coming down with something.

Oh dear Amanda, sounds awful. I guess there could be any number of reasons, including the diabetes fairy up to her naughty tricks again :( It would be worth phoning for advice again, like you did yesterday because they need to know that it has happened again and they might have a suggestion as to what is going on. Might it be your levemir that is not working properly?

I think that I've found the problem. I went to change the humalog cartridge in one of the two pens that I use and it was completely wet over all of the outside. I'm hoping this means that it was leaking the insulin instead of going into me.

Sounds a likely possibility Amanda, I do hope this is the cause and the solution! 🙂

......Exactly what I thought the problem was! My old lilly pens used to sometimes be problematic and occasionally I may have had a cracked cartridge. It's always something simple that is the problem! I must say it is really important to fire a few units of insulin off before injecting to make sure that your pen is working properly.

You were exactly right Phil! It's been brilliant having good BGs today.

...fantastic!!🙂 glad you have it sorted. It's weird how you think you're never going to get your levels down.......and eventually when you do, you shout for joy!
