Got my first ever HbA1c results today and it was 40/5.8! I've been diagnosed for 3 months now and i've only had a couple of hypos since I started on insulin injections, so the doctor was really happy and so am I! :D
Does anyone else remember their first HbA1c?

Congratulations, that's a great result! 🙂 My first one was 6.8%, but that was only 5 weeks after being diagnosed, when I was 11,8% 😱 All my subsequent ones have been in the mid-5%'s, except one at the end of last year, when I was 6.2%.

You'll have gathered that they never give me my numbers as anything other than a percentage! 🙂

Keep up the good work!

Well done Cosmic, what a great result! Mine have been awful ever since diagnosis, until this last which is the best I've had yet at 6.5.

That's a great result, and even better for some one that's newly been diagnosed, wish my HbA1c's were like that.

Can't even remember what my results are for a few years ago let alone when I was diagnosed.

Nice one!!! good results 🙂
I remember my first hba1c 2012 April when first diagnosed 7.1
which to my knowledge was not to bad!
Now look at me!!! 🙄 one year on my dn will not even do a hba1c cos my levels have been so up and down!!!
Hope you continue your good levels 🙂

Haven't you had an HbA1c done in over a year? That is just so wrong :( Most T2s get one done at least every 6 months, often every 3 months.

This depends on the GP's practice, in mine you are lucky to get one annually, and that's if the patient remembers to book the diabetic review. :(

This year has been a exception for me I think I have had around 4 done, due to problems.

I was thinking about newly-diagnosed really pav, should have said. Annual ones may be OK for people who are well-controlled, but really it ought to be according to the individual needs of the patient.

Think I was having a blank moment there, 😱 Yes newly diagnosed should be having one every month to 3 months.

It's only sposed to be annual, for STABLE T2's !
