Hate to rain on your parade, but is this a cynical marketing ploy to tie people in to buying their expensive strips?
 
I got one as well not long ago too 🙂 luckily my doctor was more than happy to change my repeat prescription to the contour next strips!
 
Have used a Contour USB for a number of years, am on my second at the moment as the battery went futt a few months ago .Bayer sent me a new Contour next USB when I contacted them. My doctor has never questioned the test strips ( I get 300 every 2 months)
 
The strips are cheaper than accu chek but dearer than the codefree. They did supply 25 strips with it, so i can play around with it.
 
I actually just ran out of my strips due to my own silly fault and won't be able to order any more til Monday. Won't get them til Wednesday due to it taking 48 hours. Just bought some from Amazon for £13.80 with free next day delivery so they'll be here tomorrow! Not sure if you can get them cheaper elsewhere, I didn't look very hard!
 
I love it. It's got some nice features. Not keen on the wallet it came with though.

I think that's deliberate - if you register the meter then you can exchange test strip box lids for various 'rewards', one of which is a better case! 🙄 I've only ever got a new 'skin' as a reward.
