I know im gonna get told off for this but have only just realized I didt take my insulin last night. Im on 120 units of Insartard slow acting a day. My blood sugar is 15.6. about my normal level Should I take some extra tonight to make up for it or just leave it
gail

If your levels have remained around normal for you I wouldn't take any extra because that might send you hypo - you can't really 'correct' using slow-acting and taking extra might mean you fighting lows all day tomorrow. If it were me and it was not far off my injection then I'd just wait and take the normal dose. Hope your levels stay settled Gail 🙂

Hi gail.

If it were me and I wasn't seeing higher readings by now, I would take my normal dose, but there may be a delayed effect with insulatard (used to be on it but can't remember 🙄).

I would see what others say and take a consensus if you can't get proper medical advice.

It's very easy to forget and sadly, there's no immediate effects to remind us. It'll just be a game of catch up I would have thought.

I would just take the dose that you would normally take.

You could call the diabetes uk care line and see what they have to say - or call your out of hours Drs for advice.

Hi Gail,
as others have said just take your normal dose. Can you lower your carb in take to help you out a bit? Do keep a good eye on your blood sugars though.

I would just take my normal dose. I have an alarm set for a daily reminder on my phone that goes off at 10pm each night, otherwise I'm sure I would forget too!!!
