Hi @Daisy33 and welcome to the forum. @gail2 's suggestion is sensible. You need to see your GP who will have your medical history and should be able to look at those symptoms and work out whether they are diabetes related.

I think most of us with T2 would not recommend eating sweets in any case. Tempting though they are, they would be the first thing to eliminate when looking to keep blood glucose under control.

I used to feel most of the symptoms you describe when I would binge on carb/gluten foods, but to a much lesser extent. It was a combination of blood sugar going too high and a reaction to gluten. But I'm talking about a huge amount of carbs/sugar/gluten. Your reactions sounds much worse than mine.
(I'm glad to say my binge/compulsive eating is mostly under control now, and I'm hopefully heading towards remission)
I agree with other people that you should see your doctor. I just wanted to reply for support 🙂

Hi @Daisy33
As others have suggested, a visit to the GP may be in order.

Take care
Alan 😉

Sorry to hear about the symptoms you are experiencing @Daisy33, they sound very unpleasant and distressing for you.

No one here is qualified to offer any medical advice, we can only share our own experiences.

Some of the symptoms you describe (sweating, heart racing, tingling, anxiety, nervous ‘spaced out’ feeling) are things I have experienced with low blood glucose, which is the opposite of what you would expect following eating sweets.

Other symptoms like bloating and flatulence seem more likely related to IBS?

There is a condition called ‘reactive hypoglycaemia’, where the metabolism slightly over-reacts to an initial glucose rise from sugary food or carbohydrates, and then blood glucose levels fall too low, triggering symptoms - but it’s not possible to know if that’s happening for you without checking your glucose levels at the time.

Hopefully your GP can help you understand what’s going on.

In the meantime it seems like your body is telling you pretty clearly to avoid eating sweets!
