I am an 82 year old male with Type 2 diabetes diagnosed about 25 years ago using Novorapid and Glargine insulins to control sugar levels.

I would be interested in exchanging notes with Type 2 diabetics who also use insulin to control their sugars.

Welcome to the forum @Oldman.
I have Type 1 so probably not the person you are looking to exchange notes with but wanted to welcome you.

My father has just had his 82nd birthday. He has noticed that some mature people mention their age more often than others. My father has decided 82 is the age when this starts to happen. So, your subject made me smile.

I hope you get some comments from our friendly type 2 crowd soon. You are not alone with your diabetes treatment.

There are lots of T2 here who use insulin so you’re amongst friends here.

What questions/issues are you having if any?

My mum turned 80 recently and it’s my job to remind her all the time!

Welcome @Oldman 🙂 @Lucyr is Type 2, uses insulin and manages very well. I can’t remember what insulins she uses, but if you’re having particular problems, just ask away and we’ll all try to help. Nothing is too trivial to ask.

I use apidra and lantus and have done for a very long time. I’ve also tried in the past humalog levemir and tresiba.

Just beat you age wise I am 83 and type2 for nearly 18 years on insulin since first day of diagnosis, Novorapid and Insulatard

Hello Oldman
I am age 73 (at least for the next few months).
I am also T2 (diagnosed November last year) and use Novorapid and Glargine along with 2x 500mg metformin daily.
My somewhat astronomic HbA1c (on diagnosis) is now down to 49 at last review; triglycerides down from 4.52 to 1.6.
I think I'm doing OK but my outstanding problem is an inability to achieve any weight loss. I am 6ft tall so the weight doesn't show too much - but its there!

Welcome to the forum @Oldman

Are there any aspects of your insulin and diabetes management which you are finding particularly difficult at the moment?
