Have been reading a lot recently about the reduction in sugar in certain drinks/sweets has meant they are now not as suitable as they once were for treating a hypo. I am lucky enough to not have to worry about hypos at present as I am not on medication. However I was in the local Cotswolds Camping Store today and spotted an old favourite of mine Kendal Mint Cake. Hubby and I always took it with us on long treks back in the day. Seem to remember it kept for ages, without deteriorating. Would it be suitable?

Yes it would. I've used it in the past myself. I'm not sure whether it's made from glucose syrup (preferred) or just ordinary sugar, but it did the job relatively well.

Drinks generally act fastest, but any high glucose confectionery which doesn't contain much fat is fine.

Each square is about 15 carbs so more than suitable 🙂 I have some in my car and also carry some when walking Milly in the woods.

Oooh, I used to love Kendal Mint Cake, as a Cumbrian it was sold everywhere, the chocolate covered one was a particular favourite. I couldn’t really be trusted to have it anywhere near me now as I would eat the whole bar!

I got itchy fingers when I saw it on display. At Christmas I saw it in a local sweet shop too. I liked the chocolate covered one too, and preferred the brown to white. I am hoping it will be one thing the government can't interfere with.🙄

There's a garden centre with a food hall in the next town to me which sells Kendal mint cake so when I visit a supply is brought back with me. I then pop over the road to a lovely OAP who loves the stuff and give him a bar as a pressie much to his delight :D

Since they've hit the sugary drinks and some foods such as Ricicles (which have disappeared from supermarkets) - stuff like Kendal Mint Cake may be next. :(
