Hypo awareness

If you want measured doses of fast-acting drinks you can go for those cocktail sized mixer cans of full sugar cola. 125ml each and 15g Cho if I remember right. I use the same lucozade as TW, a couple of decent swigs is right for me. Easy enough to judge a third of a bottle which is 20g Cho (60g in the whole bottle).

I actually measured 60ml and 100ml with water, and drank it to see how many gulps it was. Which is what I have, straight from the bottle!

I put my mug on the scales, then turn the scales on, then pour the grape juice into the mug so I can weigh the right amount.

I thought about using lucozade, but my mouthfuls are significantly larger than my partners. Hard to judge exactly how much you're having with a drink I think.

Either do as TW suggests or look at the total carbs on the bottle and then use a marker pen to divide things up. 🙂

I use 250ml bottles which I refill from 2 litre bottles of 7-Up (usually Cherry); very cheap per dose, especially when the big bottles are on offer for £1 a time. (I used to also like Fanta Fruit Twist as a hypo remedy, but that doesn't seem to store well long-term; it leaves a sediment, probably of yeast but it doesn't look very good.)

I do the same as Robert, but tend not to carry the bottles with me. I only have a certain amount of space in my backpack and no spare hands, them being occupied with the walking sticks, so I stick to me jelly babies or dried fruit when out and about. I have a mini fridge in my room and a stock in the main fridge too. The little bother has learned that it's more than his life's worth to touch my hypo supplies, LOL. Especially after I smacked him in the kisser once with an open pack of Anchor Spreadable. What a mess! It's odd, normally I couldn't hit the side of a barn with a tank, but let me go hypo and I'll take out a gnat's eye with a dart at 100 paces, lefty or no.
